Sweating
What it is: Sweating is a natural bodily process that helps regulate temperature, but excessive sweating occurs when perspiration happens without heat, exercise, or an obvious need for the body to cool down.
Common causes:
- Warm weather or intense exertion
- Emotional stress, nervousness, or anxiety
- Eating hot, spicy foods or drinking alcohol and caffeine
- Medication side effects or hormonal fluctuations
Self-care:
- Wear loose-fitting clothing made from light, breathable fabrics.
- Change socks regularly and wear ventilated footwear.
- Use an effective antiperspirant and maintain daily skin hygiene.
When to seek help: Go to the nearest hospital or call 102 if heavy sweating occurs suddenly alongside crushing chest pain, difficulty breathing, high fever, or confusion. Consult a health post, PHC, or hospital if excessive sweating lasts longer than six months, disrupts your daily routine, occurs frequently at night, or is accompanied by unexplained weight loss.
If symptoms suggest a serious emergency, call 102 for an ambulance where available.
