Body Aches
What it is: Body aches are a form of pain, which acts as a signal in your nervous system indicating that something may be wrong.
Common causes: A sudden aching body can occur as a symptom of viral illnesses like flu, along with a high temperature, tiredness, and cough. Body aches may also occur during viral stomach infections like norovirus, alongside diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and fever.
Self-care: For managing aches from flu-like illness, self-care includes resting, drinking plenty of water to avoid dehydration, and taking paracetamol or ibuprofen.
When to seek help: Urgent medical care is needed if flu-like body aches occur with sudden chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, or coughing up blood.
For help, visit a health post, PHC or hospital. If symptoms suggest a serious emergency, call 102 for an ambulance where available.
