Fatigue
What it is: Fatigue is a persistent feeling of extreme tiredness, low energy, or physical exhaustion that does not easily improve with rest. It goes beyond routine sleepiness and can make daily activities difficult to perform.
Common causes:
- Insufficient sleep or irregular sleep patterns
- High stress, low mood, or major life changes
- Unbalanced diet or lack of regular physical activity
- Recovery from recent viral illnesses or medication side effects
Self-care:
- Maintain a consistent daily sleeping routine, aiming for 6 to 9 hours of rest.
- Eat balanced meals, stay physically active, and take time to unwind before bed.
- Limit caffeine, heavy late-night meals, and screen use right before sleeping.
When to seek help:
Visit a local health post, PHC, or hospital if your tiredness lasts for several weeks without a clear cause, interferes with daily living, or occurs alongside unexpected weight loss, mood changes, or gasping for air during sleep.
If symptoms suggest a serious emergency, call 102 for an ambulance where available.
